Built for California state jobs

Your experience stays under your control

No invented qualifications

Review every document before submission

How it works

Five steps, in order, with no guesswork.

Each step builds on the one before it, so your resume, written response, and interview answers all describe the same verified experience.

  1. 1

    Upload your resume

Start with the most detailed resume you have.

  2. 2

    Complete your career story

Answer guided questions about accomplishments, responsibilities, and results.

  3. 3

    Approve your Career Profile

Confirm exactly which information CalHired may use.

  4. 4

    Evaluate a state job

Add the job posting and duty statement to receive an evidence-based assessment.

  5. 5

    Create your application materials

Generate a tailored resume, required written response, and interview preparation.

Evaluation first

Decide before you apply.

CalHired keeps two questions separate. Apparent eligibility asks whether your documented experience appears to match the stated minimum qualifications. Competitiveness asks how strongly your evidence compares against what the posting is actually asking for.

Apparent eligibility

Reported as Pass, Concern, or Unable to Determine. Only the State of California determines whether you meet minimum qualifications.

Competitiveness

A 0–100 score built from duty-statement alignment, desirable qualifications, evidence strength, transferable experience, and documented results.

CalHired does not determine eligibility and does not speak for any state department. Its assessment is an aid to your own decision.

Verified Career Profile

Nothing is written from an unreviewed resume.
